Special Lecture by Victoria Wyeth: "Andrew Wyeth: Then and Now"

This engaging presentation will explore the subject matter, technique and inside stories surrounding the major works of her late grandfather, Andrew Wyeth – from his first watercolor at age six to his final tempera painted on Benner Island, Maine, in 2009.
Born in 1917 and trained by his father, artist N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth became one the best known artists of the 20th century, whose realist and regional style stood in sharp critical contrast to the changing fashions of art movements of his day.
Victoria Wyeth’s intimate, personal narrative provides uncommon access to the creative process of one of the great masters of American painting.
About Victoria Wyeth: Victoria Browning Wyeth is the only child born to Nicholas and Jane Wyeth, the only grandchild of the iconic artist Andrew Wyeth, the great-granddaughter of renowned illustrator N.C. Wyeth, and the niece of celebrated uncle, artist Jamie Wyeth.
Ms. Wyeth has been a docent of Wyeth art since she was 15, when she began giving walking tours at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Maine.
When not traveling to lecture domestically or abroad, she is known for her tours at the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, where she reveals her family through her eyes, sharing personal memories and insights gained through years of discussions with her grandfather and uncle about their work.
The Biggs will be open special evening hours. All lecture attendees are invited to explore the exhibition “The Wyeths: Three Generations” Works from the Bank of America Collection prior to the lecture free of charge between 5 -6:30 PM. The lecture will take place at the Schwartz Center for the Arts. This special event is brought to you in partnership with Delaware State University.
